Thomas Rowsell (1771 - 1854)

The details of Thomas Rowsell's birth are not presently known, including the identity of his parents.

An entry of death we have located records that one Thomas Rowsell died at 83 years of age on January 14, 1854 in West Hatch, Somerset, after an illness (presumably a stroke) described as "Paralysis of left side, 3 weeks confined".

It is not known whether or not Thomas is related to John Rowsell. It is tempting to believe, however he may have been a brother or cousin of John, because: Thomas is a recurring name in this family; the timing of Thomas' birth is roughly contemporaneous with John's likely birthdate; North Curry is close to the Taunton area; Thomas' listed occupation is "mason"; and the apparent presence of an "Eliza" Rowsell at the time of death. We know that stonemasonry was a family business for several generations of the Taunton-area Rowsells. We know that the name Elizabeth was common within this branch of the Rowsell family: Eliza might have been John's daughter Elizabeth (1790 - ) or grandaughter Elizabeth (1818 - ).

Further geneaological research would be required to confirm any connection between Thomas and this Rowsell family.
