Mary Anne Rowsell (1820 - )

St. George's Church, Wilton, Somerset
Mary Anne Rowsell was baptized in the Church of St. George in Wilton, Somerset on September 17, 1820. She was the third daughter of John Rowsell (1792 - 1854) and Maria (nee Moor).

Mary Anne had 5 siblings.












Mary Anne subsequently married Henry Parsons, coal miner, at St. George's church on March 19, 1844. His father is listed as George Parsons.


1851 Census, Taunton
By the time of the 1851 Census, their family appears at 52 Coal Orchard in St. James Parish of Taunton. Henry (31) Cordwainer and Mary Ann (30) Milliner, have added Edwin John (15), Ellen (3), John (2) and George (4 mos) to their family.







No death or burial records of Henry Parsons or Mary Ann have yet been identified.

    The address is Coal Orchard (right next to St James Church) & the occupation is cordwainer (i.e. shoe/boot maker).

  2. Thank you, Mike! My lack of knowledge about the geography of Taunton is clearly surpassed only by my inability to read (or understand) the handwriting of the period. I hope the information on the website is helpful, or at least somewhat interesting.
